Dark Rivers of the HeartDark Rivers of the Heart by Dean Koontz
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Audible.

Plot. A lonely guy – sole companion being a once abused dog, Rocky, that quivers and cows from everything/everyone – becomes infatuated with a girl who works in a bar. Unbeknownst to him, she’s on the run from a covert group that wants to kill her – she’s the only surviving witness of a brutal murder. This is the thrust of the story.

Liked. A touch ethereal. No sex, no offensive language, no graphic violence.

Not so hot. The story should have been shorter by a lot. Verbose and pointless segments. Found myself jumping to the end of chapters. Internal thoughts of characters are way overwritten. Not one of Koontz’s best.

Written by Dean Koontz, narrated by Scott Merriman, 24 hours of listening in unabridged audiobook format, released in May 2018 by Brilliance Audio.
