Before She Disappeared (Frankie Elkin, #1)Before She Disappeared by Lisa Gardner
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Frankie Elkin is a loner and recovering alcoholic whose obsession is finding missing persons after the police have given up. She is not a cop, only the victim of violent crime. The story begins with the search for a missing teenage girl who disappeared over a year ago. Frankie asks for nothing, there is no fee; she works as a bartender to make a living. Clever and resourceful, Frankie has found 14 other victims, too late; they were all dead. This time, she is desperate to find the girl alive – for the girl’s family and for herself.

Liked. It’s a fast-moving mystery. No sex, no objectionable language. Narration and production are fine. Good character development. Good environmental details – a movie in your head.

Written by Lisa Gardner, narrated by Hillary Huber, A Frankie Elkin Novel, Book 1, just over 12 hours of listening in unabridged audiobook format, released in January of 2021 by Brilliance Audio.

Recommended.
