Ever heard the axiom that “the book was better than the movie”? Well….how’s about the book is entirely different than the movie? Whoever wrote the screenplay for A Stir of Echoes completely messed with the book as told by Richard Matheson.
Won’t go into detail, there are a bunch of other reviews about this book. Just this….it is not the Kevin Bacon movie. IMO, the movie is a brutal insult to the author of the book when it is so altered. Why re-write a perfectly good story? Just me.
FYI? Matheson is also the author of Somewhere in Time (based on a Matheson book and movie screenplay written by Matheson), and a ton of the original Rod Serling Twilight Zone stories – and one of Stephen King’s favorite authors.
This is the original A Stir of Echoes. Recommended.
