Zero Fail: The Rise and Fall of the Secret ServiceZero Fail: The Rise and Fall of the Secret Service by Carol Leonnig
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Did you know Obama got 30 threat calls per day immediately after he won his first Presidential election? Did you know the Secret Service is often an undisciplined bunch of alcoholic, sex-crazed madmen? Did you know that many are as partisan as the rest of America, vocal on social media, and calling the January 6 insurrectionists “patriots”? Did you know Joe Biden has called on the agents who protected him as VP for his current Presidential protection because he doesn’t trust the current band of partisans in the service? Did you know as President-elect, he was denied Secret Service protection by Trump?

The Secret Service is also peppered with incredible moments of heroism and despair.

Zero Fail is eye-opening, disgusting, frightening – and we pay for it. Knowledge is power – this is a MUST read. When they DO fail, an American President is shot or dies, the world is thrown into devastating turmoil, and democracy is again threatened.

Zero Fail is written by Carol Leonnig of the Washington Post, narrated by Maggi-Meg Reed, Carol Leonnig, Carol should stick to writing, had to pump speed up to 1.4 – Reed is good. About twenty hours of listening in unabridged audiobook format, released in May 2021 by Random House Audio.

Recommended.

I’m trying hard to enjoy this fabulous book by the one and only Carol Leonning. The narrator is making this nearly impossible. I can’t pin down why this is but I doubt that I will finish this volume of Ms Leonning’s portfolio. Audible blew it on this one. Big time
