A Cold Trail (Tracy Crosswhite, #7)A Cold Trail by Robert Dugoni
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Plot. A Cold Trail is a Tracy Crosswhite story. Tracy is asked to investigate a cold case murder and is entangled in current events tied to the dark history of her hometown. If you’re a fan of the series, you’ll enjoy some familiar characters.

Liked. The series. Tracy is an empathetic character who has been a victim herself – she understands. You do not need to read the entire series to enjoy this mystery – but reading book one will help you understand Tracy – she’s a cop, a dang good cop, with a devastating past.

Not so hot. The end of the story is an info dump. The guilty party virtually re-tells the entire story, motivation, and details that Tracy has figured out over the previous 9 hours of listening…weird. Found myself muttering, “Yeah, yeah, so, yeah…”.

Emily Sutton-Smith does a fine job with the narration. Voicing is terrific. Bumped the speed up to 1.4 – not criticism, just a bit slow for me—no sex, no extreme violence, no objectionable language – just a good mystery.
